I just wanted to let you know how and why this ride started. In 2017 my brother Pete was diagnosed with a very rare type of cancer, heptatoid adenocarcinoma. He was given 2 weeks to live if the first chemo treatment didn’t work. Pete was one of the strongest and healthiest people I knew. He fought and fought hard. He survived for 1,061 days...proving everyone wrong. While on treatment he still went to work everyday, to the gym, ran 5k races for the Ulman Foundation, and never complained. In 2019 Pete rode his bicycle in the Ulman Foundation Key to Keys ride. The group rode from Key Highway in Baltimore
to Key West in 8 days. And yes...on their bicycles!! He had chemo on Thursday and left for the keys on Saturday. He rode 100 miles in one day during the ride. He was a fighter to say the least. Cancer was not going to beat him and we all prayed for him to survive. Unfortunately the day came that we hoped never would, he left this world on May 22, 2020. So now I have put this ride together in honor of Pete. The Ulman foundation was very important to him as it is for Stacey and I. This year will be the 3rd annual Papa Pete’s Ride. last year we raised over $12,000 not just for Pete but for everyone that has been affected by cancer. Bottom line...cancer sucks!! The Ulman Foundation always says ,” Cancer changes lives...So do we”. Let’s raise some money, get in the wind, and help change some lives! Thank you all!
ULMAN FOUNDATION
Each year more than 72,000 young adults are diagnosed with cancer in the United States. Young adults (ages 15-39) face a variety of unique challenges with a cancer diagnosis including social isolation, fertility preservation, insurance concerns, delayed diagnosis, and survivorship.

The Ulman Foundation changes lives by creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, impacted by cancer. With your support, Ulman is able to provide free services and resources for the young adult cancer community through programs that focus on patient support services, housing, survivorship, and scholarship. Learn more about young adult cancer and our impact here.
