Alleen and Maddie Ledoux
We are sisters from Denver, CO raising money to support the Ulman Foundation. This coming April we will be joining the Key to Keys 2020 Team! Participants will spend 8 days biking from Baltimore Maryland to Key West Florida, raising awareness for young adult cancer.
This will be Maddie's second journey with the Ulman Foundation, in the summer of 2018 she and a team of runners ran from San Francisco to Baltimore in the 4K for Cancer.
There are a few specific people I will be riding for in April 2020.The first person I will be riding for is my grandmother. My grandmother passed away from breast cancer years before I was born. My mother was only 16 when her mother passed away.
The second person I will ride for will be Chloe. I met Chloe in 2018 in Evansville, IN during my 4K for cancer run. Since meeting her I have been able to keep in touch with her and her daughters, by getting updates on how Chloe's (the energizer bunny) cancer treatment has been.
My grandmother and Chloe are two of MILLIONS that have been affected by cancer. I know that cancer has affected so many more lives. I want to ride for all of those lives affected, whether you are going through cancer, know some one who is going through cancer, or have lost your life to cancer.
Alleen: It was wild during Madeline's experience with 4K seeing just how many people we know have been affected by Cancer in ways we never even previously knew. I consider myself lucky to have the opportunity to be a part of this foundations mission in supporting young people who have been impacted by Cancer.
Each year more than 72,000 young adults are diagnosed with cancer in the United States. Young adults (ages 15-39) face a variety of unique challenges with a cancer diagnosis including social isolation, fertility preservation, insurance concerns, delayed diagnosis, and survivorship.
The Ulman Foundation changes lives by creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, impacted by cancer. With your support, Ulman is able to provide free services and resources for the young adult cancer community through programs that focus on patient support services, housing, survivorship, and scholarship.
